Open Letter To All Farmers Part 4
Dear Farmers,
Stephen Pierce once wrote,” Setbacks and stressors are bridges to be crossed to our goals…not barricades to keep us from them.” No doubt there are stressors and setbacks in farming. Several years ago, I had wanted to interview the owner of a vibrant farm only to discover that the farmer suffered a downturn with the Bird Flu tragedy. This was obviously a great stressor and setback. Many farmers are going through difficulties from time to time. My prescription is determination. Yes, a farmer who really wants to make it must be determined.

The gist of this Prescription is that no matter what you encounter on your way to success; use the power of determination within you to press on to victory. The plain fact is that success cannot happen without determination.

Here’s is what I mean. Be determined to succeed in your farming business. Don’t let the difficulties of today scare you away from the harvest of tomorrow. Don’t allow the pains of today turn you back from the gains that will soon come to you. I know a farmer who went through so many challenges but kept on farming. Today, he is enjoying the gains of perseverance. And it does not mean that challenges will not come again. But the truth is that being challenged in life and business is inevitable but being defeated is optional.
My word to any farmer going through challenges today is to refuse to lose hope! Keep pressing forward. Learn the lessons you need to learn and pick up your tools again. There is no one enjoying success today that has not gone through the fire and crucible of failures. Great farmers did not succeed by accident. They pressed through difficulties and challenges. They were determined to succeed.
Take the pill of determination and take it daily. Read the stories of determined and successful business people. You owe it to yourself to succeed regardless of the setbacks and stressors. Many people are succeeding, why shouldn’t you? Be determined to succeed and you will.
Do not take no for an answer in your farming business. If you can’t climb over your challenge, go round it or bore under it or through it or simply stay before the challenge and turn it to GOLD!
