Ogun Organises Pre-Season Training For 1,065 ABP Batch C Beneficiaries

The Government of Ogun State through the Ministry of Agriculture, has organised a pre-season training and sensitization programme for the next batch of Anchor Borrowers’ Programme (ABP) beneficiaries.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Adeola Odedina, while delivering his speech at the event, said the training was in line with the vision of Governor Dapo Abiodun to generate employment for the youth through agriculture.

Odedina disclosed that the state Government has cleared 2,500 hectares of land for agricultural purposes across the State.

He revealed that the training was ongoing concurrently in 11 Local Government Areas of the State and is geared towards equipping the 1,065 beneficiaries of ABP with the basic agricultural knowledge in cassava production, financial inclusion as well as nutrition, which is a plus to various training that would be given to them later by extension agents.

Mr Adekunle Badejo, a representative of Central Bank of Nigeria, pointed out that among the various intervention programmes of CBN, Agriculture takes the central stage, which is the reason for Anchor Borrowers’ Programme across the states in Nigeria, stressing the need for the country to depend less on oil and depend more on agriculture.
